Hello! My name is Tammy Roussell, founder of Mitsy Kit, an organization with a social mission, providing accessible sewing and crafting kits that reignite creativity and purpose for those challenged by physical or cognitive impairments, including the elderly, memory impaired, blind and others.

Proven to be both therapeutic and fun, Mitsy Kit produces high quality, beautiful products and meaningful engagement opportunities for family members and caretakers in both home and community settings.

Our flagship product, the original, patented tactile sewing system, provides kits to create beautiful pillows, scarves, bags, patch work blankets and more with online audio / video training that is easy to follow and easy to execute.

The kits make great activities between children, parents, grand-parents, and great grand-parents!  There are currently over twenty Mitsy Kit sewing and crafting projects to choose from with a selection of just right challenge kits including no sew fabric craft options, all with our patented tactile queues to make participation possible for a broad range of capabilities.

I was initially inspired to develop this touch based sewing and crafting process for my mother, Mitsy, a former seamstress, after she lost her eyesight due to Retinitis Pigmentosa.  After realizing the dramatic improvement this had on my mother’s quality of life, I was compelled to make it into a kit so that others could benefit in the greater blind and visually impaired community.

Since then, we have been excited to see broad success by those using the Mitsy kit, in addition to the blind and visually impaired, including those with memory impairment, autism, aphasia, traumatic brain injury, and other seniors and children with or without physical or cognitive disability.

Our customers include individuals and organizations who purchase our products and services to support  individual sewing and crafting needs, as well as group activities in residential and rehabilitation communities.

Although our current products are sewing and fabric crafting focused, we are committed in the long term to designing new kits to meet the needs of the diverse population we serve.

In addition to Mitsy Kit benefits for participants, you can also feel proud of your contribution to help the blind, elderly and disabled community at large due to our commitment to donate 100% of profits to charity, and to help employ the blind and disabled. We are partnering with Lighthouse Works of Central Florida to help us kit, pack and distribute many of our kits with a goal to have all of our kits processed by the blind and disabled in the future.  You can help us to make a real difference, changing lives, and giving back!

We look forward to hearing from you on how we can best serve your individual or group activities!
