Tote bag (13”) Orange, Olive, Purple and White Spots on Black with Purple Lining

Requires use of regular needle and thread.  This project is on the moderate complex side due to the amount of stitching and steps to complete.  Tactile guides are sewn on all sides of fabric to enable sew by touch.  Recommend crewel size 3 needle and waxed thread for hand sewing.  See accessories for more information on notions.

Text description of how to assemble the Tote bag kit follows:

All pieces are pinned together and ready to stitch.  You will be stitching the rectangular pieces of fabric that are clipped together on the side of the project which has two clips and about a 5 inch piece of painters tape affixed to one of the short ends.  This taped area is the area you will use to turn your project right side out so it should not be sewn until the last step.

Begin stitching with your running stitch either to the left or to the right of the taped area (depending on whether you sew left to right or right to left). Continue stitching around all four sides of the rectangle until you come back to the other side of the taped area.  Then you can remove the tape and clips to turn the fabric right side out through the small opening in the lining. Pull the far corners of the rectangle through and use your index finger to gently poke the corners out to a point.  Then you can stitch the hole in the lining up and push the lining into the outer bag shell.  The bag straps will be laying on the outer side of the bag.  Iron with a warm iron to make the lining and outer bag line up at the top perimeters.

*Tip, if you have trouble getting the thread through the eye of the needle we recommend the bow style needle threader. Instructions on how to thread using this tool is on YouTube @ Mitsy Kit Video Thread Needle With Bow Threader.  We also provide accessory sewing tools with bow threader, crewel size 3 needle pack, tomato pin cushion, and thread if needed @ MitsyKit.org search under accessories for mini hand sewing tool kit.

Also see the following YouTube audio / video for further instructions on how to perform the running stitch: @ Mitsy Kit Video Running Stitch Demonstration
